Bryan Kovalesky is married to Melissa Kovalesky, the two have been married for 9 years and have two children. He has worked in the BPO industry for about 17 years, and has always had a desire to help others whenever possible. Recently, cancer has hit close to home when Melissa was diagnosed with CML on September 6, 2013. Seeing how much Melissa has to go through both physically and mentally, it was clear just how important it was for Bryan and Melissa both to focus on her treatment plan and getting Melissa healthy. Adding the burden of financial strains would only take away from Melissa’s ability to focus on her plan and Bryan’s ability to support her. They have been extremely fortunate and blessed to have insurance that has helped tremendously, but it was quickly understood just how much and how fast the costs can add up. This situation was a key driver in their desire to help others. Families Raising Hope is just that, families helping families by shouldering some of the financial burden through donations and support. Bryan hopes to see this organization grow and support many more families so they can focus on what is important, conquering cancer.
Jeff McGinnis, Founder
Jeff McGinnis is married to Jennifer McGinnis and a parent to 2 great step-children. He comes from a very caring family who have all witnessed firsthand the damage cancer can do. He was inspired to co-found Families Raising Hope as the lessons of losing a parent to cancer taught him that one person can make a huge difference in many lives. Jeff wanted to take the example that his mom set forth and not let cancer get in the way of life and make a difference in the lives of those that are currently fighting cancer. Jeff’s passion is to make sure that cancer patients get a chance to beat cancer and not have to worry about the financial burdens can bring. He is also hoping to set the example for his children and create a desire in them to help others that are in need and show that with some hard work and a big heart they too can make a difference.
Melissa Kovalesky, Creative Director
Melissa Kovalesky is married to Bryan Kovalesky who is also one of the founders of Families Raising Hope. Bryan and Melissa have two incredibly active children, Landen who is 7 years old and Payten who is 3 years old. She teaches preschool right now and eventually would like to go back to teaching elementary education. Her inspiration to be a part of this wonderful organization is to help families who are going through an unbelievably hard time in their lives by easing the financial burden that often comes with cancer treatment(s). Melissa is also a close friend of Debra Laming and wanted to do something to help her through this difficult time. Another big draw for Melissa was that she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) in September 2013. Melissa knows firsthand the expenses associated with treating cancer and is eager to help families fighting cancer.
Jenny McGinnis, Fundraising/Events Director
Jennifer McGinnis is married to Jeff McGinnis who is one of the founders of this organization. She has two amazing children that complete her family. Family and Friends are very important to her and she has seen so many people fight the battle of cancer first hand and all that comes with it. Her inspiration to be a part of this organization is her best friend of 28 years Debra Lamping, who is fighting a second battle with Leukemia of a completely different type than the first time she beat it. Many people who are battling cancer don’t have the resources, family or friends that Debbie has. Jenny is also touched by Melissa Kovalesky, another member of this organization, who is also going through a battle against Leukemia. Jenny has seen many people fight cancer and it has never been an easy battle, having two dear friends fighting cancer at the same time opened her eyes to all those that may not have the money to pay rent or for medicine they need. Being a part of this organization means so much to her and she is very excited that Families Raising Hope will have the ability to help as many families as possible.
